Abstract

This annotated bibliography forms part of CPRC's Phase 3 foundational research theme Empirical Methods for Studying Intergenerational Transmissions of Poverty (IGT), which attempts to identify the extent to which such processes occur, the nature and reversibility of such processes in different contexts and occurring at different times, and the range of factors that increase the likelihood that poverty is passed from one generation to the next. This annotated bibliography is divided into sections corresponding to key themes in the IGT literature, and is structured as follows: - IGT Research Online - Definitions, Concepts and Frameworks - Methods for Investigating IGT Processes - Health, Nutrition and Irreversibilities in Child Development - Education, Training and Reversals in Poverty Trajectories - Intergenerational Transmission of Poverty in Sub-Saharan Africa (This section deals specifically with relevant, recent texts examining poverty processes in sub-Saharan Africa not included in previous sections, with an emphasis on agricultural livelihoods, conflict, ageing, street children, and social capital.) The annotated bibliography is indexed by keyword, country/region, and author.
