Description
The Poverty Reports Day presented four recently published and one forthcoming report on poverty in the developing world and brought together research institutions, development agencies, representatives from developing country governments and members of the public to discuss their possible impact on poverty policy.
The reports presented were:
- CPRC's Chronic Poverty Report 2008-09: Escaping Poverty Traps,
- the Oxfam International report From Poverty to Power: How Active Citizens and Effective States can Change the World,
- the International Food Policy Research Institute’s report The World’s Most Deprived: Characteristics and Causes of Extreme Poverty and Hunger,
- the International Labour Office's report Promotion of rural employment for poverty reduction, and
- A preview of the International Fund for Agricultural Development’s 2009 rural poverty report.
