This conference will bring together two distinguished speakers to present recent work on chronic poverty and pro-poor growth. Chaired by Dr Andrew Shepherd (CPRC/ODI), at which two papers were presented:

  • Sense in Sociability? Social Exclusion and Persistent Poverty in South Africa (Professor Michael Carter, University of Wisconsin)
  • Can the chronically poor benefit from a pro-poor growth strategy? Lessons from Recent ODI/CPRC Research
